Is perimenopause real?
I am embarrassed to say that this is something that just never crossed my mind….Until I had been trying to get pregnant for 2 years…
I had known about “menopause” and had assumed that was “the change”. But it’s even worse than I understood!!
The onset and duration of perimenopause can vary widely from woman to woman. Perimenopause is the period of time before menopause when a woman’s body is transitioning from regular hormone production to lower levels. This can last anywhere from 1 to 10 years.
During this time, she may experience a variety of changes that could include irregular menstrual cycles, hot flashes, mood swings, and sleep disturbances.
YES! Up to 10 years of these terrible symptoms!
While some women may enter perimenopause in their late 30s or early 40s, others may not experience it until much later in life. It is important for women to be aware of the physical, mental, and emotional changes that can occur during this period in order to better manage them.
It is important to note that these symptoms can vary in severity and duration, and may be difficult to distinguish from other medical conditions. Women should seek medical advice if they have any concerns or any of these symptoms become unmanageable.
In addition, lifestyle modifications such as eating a balanced diet, exercising regularly, and getting adequate sleep can be beneficial in managing the symptoms of perimenopause.
Ultimately, it is essential to note that every woman’s experience with perimenopause is unique, and it is important to discuss any changes with a healthcare professional.
